Looking for a place that has it all? The romantic private residence of a past diplomat, relaxing spa, and a resturant named 2007 Best New Restaurant in Monterey, Casa Munras has everything you will possibly need after an action packed day at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.
Some local friends suggest an afternoon gathering at Casa Munras after visiting the 2012 Volkswagen Sea Otters at the race track. I totally welcomed the idea because after a day under the bright, exuberant sun….I was ready for some shade over my head, a cool drink in hand, and some yummy small eats to satisfy my hunger.
Casa Munras was constructed in 1824 by the last Spanish diplomat of California, Don Esteban Munras. It was built of adobe bricks made by hand, then applied with a plaster of fine silted mud and clay to prevent the weathering of the wall. The house survived its days from the 1800s through the highs/lows of Cannery Row, and now it is a boutique hotel and spa for everyone to enjoy.
Upon arrival, my friends led me to the hotel’s restaurant, Esteban. We sat down at the outdoor area with a fireplace. Everyone ordered tapas (small dishes) and drinks. When the waiter showed up with our first dish, I knew this was going to be one of the best happy hour I had in town! (Enjoy the food photos ~)
So if you are looking for a beautiful, relaxing place to stay or to enjoy your lazy afternoon with friends and family to chat the time away, Casa Munras might be it for you!
